Algin: The seaweed is treated with sodium carbonate to convert the insoluable alginic acid into the soluable form which is sodium alginate. It is a stabiliser, emollient and thickener.

Aluminium Hydroxide: Aluminium is the 3rd most abundant element in the earth's crust. The Aluminium compounds in the Dr.Hauschka preparations are used to coat the Titanium Dioxide in the sunscreens. This prevents the finely ground titanium dioxide from aggregating and means that the cream can be applied in a thin, even layer. These compounds form a barrier on the skin and are not absorbed.

Arnica (Arnica Montana) Extract: A plant from the daisy family, with radiant yellow flowers. Dr.Hauschka uses biodynamically or organically grown Arnica montana as� an essence and as an oil extract.� Arnica montana is a native flower of Central Europe and is found in barely fertilised pastures and heathland of the high mountains. It has wound healing, disinfecting and anti-inflammatory properties. It aids tissue regeneration, relieves pain and soothes sore muscles.

Artemisia Abrotanum Extract: An rhythmitised preparation produced from biodynamically grown Southernwood, a herb indigenous to Southern Europe. It has antiseptic properties.
